Last week I mentioned several ways to make your workplace Millennial friendly with ideas like getting rid of cubicles and updating break rooms.

Here are more suggestions; continuing the thought of Laura Gayle of Better -SMB /Marketing.

1.  Adopt High technology

Millennials grew up with tablets and cell phone in hand, so it’s important to adopt the latest technologies within the workplace so these workers feel right at home.

And millennial workers’ tech savvy mindset can help connect your company with millennial customers.  By initiating a cloud-based marketing program, you also create a customer journey approach to ensure that customers comeback.  Some samples of tech include: laptops, wireless keyboards, mice and headphones; tablets and smart phones; dual monitor setups.

2. Initiate flexible work hours

Create opportunities for flexible work hours in a more relaxed workspace. Millennials  value health and family above work, believing a flexible schedule makes them more productive and creative; they are accustomed to being constantly connected and often accomplish work on the fly.

Consider letting workers choose a window of time to get their work done; flexible schedules often lead to fewer missed days and greater productivity. Consider a possible option of working remotely from home, occasionally.

Additionally, in a company’s environment, not only do people have small children, but they are also balancing their assistance of helping their maturing older parents;  another reason for flexible work hours.

3. Focus on Health

Millennials appreciate when employers help facilitate their health and well-being.  One way to do this is to create a company wellness program to help reduce stress and repetitive injuries.  Task HR or management to form a committee on wellness programs.

When I worked at Westin in California, we also offered an Annual Employee Health Fair; we invited health providing vendors  to each have a booth, in our ballroom, and let employees have an hour or so to explore many positive health solutions by visiting the vendor booths.  We also provided a light healthy lunch at one end of ballroom event.

4. Offer office perks

Consider offering a variety of office perks to make millennials flock in: free snacks in the office cafeteria; paid fitness memberships; sporting event tickets; discounts on travel; off campus events – like going to a baseball game together.

5. Provide Development and Training

Education is often the road to success, and millennials know that; provide training for advancement or offer a tuition reimbursements program.  Also offer mentor and coaching programs.  Offer Leaders programs on Coaching Skills (How to be a Coach) and Sales training and coaching, as your organization needs.
